Macayla's Story

Current Student

They don't care where you come from, and they don't care what you look like. They just care about touching your life and being there for you.

From preschool to fifth grade, I was bullied. It was tough, and I never had friends. I was always by myself or always with my mom. And so I would see my sister get invited to all these birthday parties and get invited with all these friends, and I would just be at home. And I just remember coming home crying so many times.

The people at The Rock have made a big difference in my life. They made me feel really, really good about myself. The staff there really build me up, and I feel like I can tell them anything. And it really makes you feel at peace knowing that someone is there. I chose to serve at The Rock because I just love kids so much.

When I was younger, I never really thought I would impact someone as much as I have now. It feels really good. And I think it's so special knowing you changed someone's life.

If The Rock wasn't there, I don't think I would have found my self-confidence. I don't think I would have had the friends who I have now. And I think that's just really, really cool how God just works in those miraculous ways. And he really just changes your life, like flips it a 180.
